Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Colloquium

Today's society is confronted with a host of health and disease-related issues. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer are examples of urgent and extraordinarily complex health problems. Colorado State University supports a broad and vigorous portfolio of research aimed toward developing effective strategies for prevention and treatment of these and other catastrophic diseases. Merging these research efforts with those that are occurring in the area of health promotion is the goal of the "Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Colloquium."

The combination of oral presentations from CSU faculty, scientific poster presentations from students and faculty, along with open panel discussions should stimulate all participants and encourage new avenues for research. Oral presentations will be divided into three sessions covering basic research, clinical and applied research, and issues related to public awareness. Awards will be given in both the scientific and visual art poster categories. In addition, a keynote address from an internationally recognized expert in diabetes will be presented on April 14, 2006.
